Old Testament Studies [OT I: NN]1. Introduction into the Old Testament [OT I] · OT I,1: Historical Books (1 Quarter) · OT I,2: Poetic Books (1 Quarter) · OT I,3: Large Prophets (1 Quarter) · OT I,4: Small Prophets (1 Quarter)
Old Testament Bible Studies aim to propagate an introductory knowledge of the contents of the books of the Old Testament, the authors and the historical background. To attain a good knowledge of Old Testament history, the patriarchs, Moses, Israel as the Old Testament covenant peoples, their forty years in the desert, the time of Joshua, the judges, Samuel, Kings until the time of the Babylonian captivity and of Daniel, Ezra and Nehemiah. [2 Semesters] 2. Hebrew Lectio Continua [HLC: Rev. Mntambo] After completion of the basic Hebrew grammar course continual reading [Lectio continua] of chosen texts from the Hebrew Old Testament aims to equip the student to finally be able to translate a given passage from the Hebrew Bible with the aid of a Hebrew-English Dictionary in a certain time frame as[At least 4 Semesters]
3. Exegesis of the OT [OT II n.a.] · OT II,1: Exegesis of one of the Five Books of Moses [Genesis – Deuteronomy] [1Semester] · OT II,2: Exegesis of a Major Prophet [1 Semester] · OT II,3: Exegesis of a Minor Prophet [1 Semester] · OT II,4: Exegesis of Writings [1 Semester]
4. Theology of the OT [OT III] · OT III, 1: Detailed overview of Old Testament theology. [1 Semester] · OT III, 2: Detailed overview of Old Testament theology [1 Semester]
This study is to enable a systematic and detailed knowledge of Old Testament Theology.
2. New Testament Studies [NT I –III Bishop Dr. D.P. Tswaedi]1. Introduction into the New Testament [NT I] · NT I,1: Synoptic Gospels and Acts (1 Quarter) · NT I,2: St. John’s Gospel and Epistles and Revelation (1 Quarter) · NT I,3: Epistles of St.Paul (1 Quarter) · NT I,4: Rest of the Epistles (1 Quarter) New Testament Bible Studies aims at attaining introductory knowledge of the contents of the books of the New Testament and of their writers and the relevant historical background to attain a good knowledge of New Testament history with special emphasis on the life, preaching, and work of Jesus, St. Peter, St. John, and St. Paul. [2 Semesters] 2. Greek Lectio continua [GLC] After completion of the basic Greek grammar course continual reading [Lectio continua] of chosen texts of the Greek New Testament is practised until the end of the course with the aim to equip the student to finally be able to translate a given passage from the Greek New Testament with the aid of a Greek-English Dictionary in a certain time frame. [At least 4 Semesters]

Exegesis of the NT [NT II] · NT II,1: Exegesis of a synoptic Gospel [1 Semester] · NT II,2: Exegesis of St.John’s Gospel [1 Semester] · NT II,3: Exegesis of a letter of St.Paul [1 Semester] · NT II,4: Exegesis of a non-Pauline Epistle [1 Semester] This is to equip the student to come to a theologically responsible understanding of any given passage in the NT. 4. Theology of the NT [NT III] · NT III,1: Detailed overview of New Testament theology [1 Semester] · NT III,2: Detailed overview of New Testament theology [1 Semester] This is to enable the student to achieve a comprehensive understanding of the NT Theology as a whole. |
